The cost of security breaches is on the rise

According to an IBM study that was released on July 11, 10 of the 11 mega breaches that were studied were criminal attacks and the cost of a data breach averages around $4 million. Of greater concern is that most of these mega breaches go unnoticed for almost a full year. Other cybersecurity news from the past week includes how Artificial Intelligence (AI) might be able to help thwart security breaches since AI can detect patterns, and Wired Magazine’s “The Worst Cybersecurity Breaches of 2018 So Far” highlights five areas of concern.
