BIO

Megan McKenzie provides strategic leadership to McKenzie Worldwide and the agency's work with technology companies in enterprise, consumer, wireless, networking, cybersecurity and other markets. She also has extensive experience working with venture capital and other investment firms to provide strategic communications counsel and achieve outstanding results. In addition, she and her team partner with nonprofit organizations, executives and authors to develop thought leadership programs that help build trust in corporate and personal brands. Throughout her more than 25-year career in public relations, Megan has served in numerous leadership roles in both corporate and agency environments.

Her client experience spans large brands and start-ups: AIRVISION, Alcatel, AT&T Wireless, Attachmate, BETTERY, Cerebyte, Coinstar, Cyber Oregon, Datavard, DocuSign, e-Spirit, Electro Scientific Industries, Hueya, Ignition Partners, Jobster, Microsoft, mFoundry, OpenText, Pacific Star Communications, PKI Solutions, Radio Frame Networks, Redhawk Network Security, ReelDx, Samsung, SAP AG and SAP Inc., Siebel, Sony Electronics, Technology Association of Oregon, Tektronix and many others.

Prior to founding McKenzie Worldwide, she served as president of OnPR and as a vice president at Waggener Edstrom—both high-tech public relations agencies. Previously, she was President of McKenzie Communications, which provided strategic communications services to several high-tech companies based in the Pacific Northwest. She has served in corporate communications management roles at Pacific Bell/Pacific Telesis, Torme & Co., Nordstrom Inc. and Egghead Software.

During her nearly 10-year tenure with Waggener Edstrom she served as a senior leader on both of the agency's largest international accounts: Microsoft and SAP. She was a leader on the agency's SAP AG team, providing strategic counsel on corporate communications, issues management, business press, crisis communications and competitive plans. For Microsoft, she led the Windows NT Server news team, the Microsoft BackOffice reviews team and Microsoft's Enterprise Customer Unit team and their vertical marketing efforts. She also led the agency's public relations support for Microsoft's first global CEO Summit with Bill Gates. The event attracted high-profile attendees including U.S. Vice President Al Gore, Steve Forbes and more than 100 of the world's top CEOs. She was also on the team providing public relations support for Microsoft's pivotal Internet Strategy Day in 1995, which drew more than 400 print and broadcast reporters from around the world.

Megan is a frequent guest speaker on the topics of strategic public relations, corporate communications and branding at conferences and university forums and is very involved in cyber awareness activities as a member of the Oregon Cybersecurity Advisory Council. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in technical journalism with a minor in business administration from Oregon State University. She also studied at the Universite d'Avignon in Avignon, France.

Megan is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys spending time in the snow during the winter and hiking during the summer with her three sons. She loves to cook and travel when not brainstorming public relations strategies with clients—and has been known to do all three at once if needed.
