Doing good while building your brand

Every once in a while you have the opportunity to work on an initiative, announcement or event (or all of the above) that you believe will really make a difference. Even better is when an idea that you suggest combines with your client’s vision of the same path to make a really good thing a reality. Those times are special.

The first annual Elevate Inclusion Summit that my agency team and I worked on with our client partner, Nitin Rai and the Elevate Capital team, has been one of those special times. It’s rewarding to be involved in an effort that is focused on doing good and also just so happens to continue to build and strengthen a client’s brand.

The Elevate Inclusion Summit, which debuted last Friday in Portland, is a first-of-its-kind investment conference totally focused on celebrating diversity and inclusion. We’re thrilled that hashtag#elevateinclusion2018 attracted nearly 300 attendees from a wide and diverse group of women entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs of color, female investors and many other communities. It has turned out to be one of the most diverse and inclusive investor conferences yet. In fact, of the nearly 300 attendees who registered to attend the Inclusion Summit, more than 75% were women and more than 55% were people of color.

Best of all, our client gave us great feedback on our work:

“Thank you Megan McKenzie. In the same vein, every once in a while one crosses paths with a kindred spirit like you who immediately “got it” and proposed this “great idea” of holding an inclusion venture capital conference – a first of its kind in the Pacific Northwest and we pulled it off in 8 weeks with an incredible impact. Thanks to you and your team for believing in me and the Elevate team.” – Nitin Rai, Founder & Managing Director, Elevate Capital

We also placed a guest column in The Oregonian by Nitin about his commitment to inclusive investing which is a great read. Check it out: https://bit.ly/2El9Ius
