BIO

Brian Edwards is a talented business and technology communications expert with more than 25 years of experience in high-tech public relations and marketing. He has strong skills in media relations, marketing and business development. Most importantly, he has the highly valuable and unique ability to understand highly technical topics and communicate them in a compelling manner to analysts, editors and other non-technology savvy audiences.

As a former journalist, he is an outstanding writer of news releases, speeches, presentations, profiles, and message development. Brian has strong relationships with trade and business media reporters. His story placements with technology and business publications have been outstanding during the past several years.

Brian has applied his expertise in technology and cybersecurity to McKenzie Worldwide’s work for nearly than 15 years with clients such as Tektronix, OpenText and e-Spirit as well as several cybersecurity accounts including Cyber Oregon, Hueya, Redhawk Network Security and others.

Prior to joining the McKenzie Worldwide team, Brian was an account manager at high-tech PR agency Waggener Edstrom where he led a 35-person team which served the Microsoft Enterprise and Developer and business. During his six-year tenure with Waggener Edstrom, he conceived, pitched and executed a very positive, break-through Page 1 story in the Wall Street Journal that played a major role in changing the perception of Microsoft's enterprise solutions. Brian also worked on the Microsoft Security team and has good working knowledge of the cybersecurity market.

During his work for SAP, he provided direct strategic counsel and PR support to SAP AG board members including SAP Co-Founder Hasso Plattner and CEO Henning Kaggermann. He also relocated to Germany for three years where he opened the agency's first international office. He built a 12-person agency team and can now speak and read German.

He previously held positions as a marketing communications manager for a Bay Area startup, an account manager for a small PR agency and worked as an editor for a magazine focused on enterprise computing. Brian has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from California State University Fullerton.

In his free time, Brian seeks out adventures of the two-wheeled kind – on vehicles with and without motors on roads paved and unpaved. His adventures take him to many amazing and remote locales around the beautiful Pacific Northwest and he even leads a regular Wednesday evening group sport bike ride.
